the curriculum vitae...
Adam studied at Aylesbury Grammar School, a leading state grammar in the Buckinghamshire area, where he was Deputy Head Boy in his final year. It was during these years that his passion for education, sport and entrepreneurship were born and flourished.
He wrote his first publication at the age of 15, applying economic principles to the video game 'FIFA' and was involved with a multitude of projects throughout his school career. At the heart of everything that Adam did was always a raw and relentless drive to improve performance and share this with as many people as possible.
He constructed, launched and coordinated a research panel at the school in his penultimate year, providing evidence-based analysis and conclusions, solving real problems for the school community as well as giving students vital research skills, and championed the practice of mindfulness as a tool for academic and sporting performance on a number of occasions.
At the same time, Adam's career as an author continued to develop, with 'The Anatomy of a Goalkeeper' in 2016 generating great interest and commitment from experts across the goalkeeping community and beyond. This would prove to be the platform for further publications with the likes of Richard Lee and Tony Elliott, who he continues to work closely with now.
Adam has experienced both recreational and performance sporting environments himself. He was a GB U20s handball goalkeeper, with significant success at club-level and on the national AASE apprenticeship. He has also held Head of Goalkeeping posts at a number of independent academies, and currently holds a mentor role at Berkhamsted Raiders, an FA 'Super Club' and winner of the UEFA Silver Grassroots Club of the Year in 2015, where he is responsible for developing and supporting the match-day provisions for the 70+ teams at the club.
In 2017, he was awarded the Bucks and MK Young Leader of the Year award, and in 2018 was invited to the Royal Wedding for his contribution to handball and football in the local area. He is a fluent Spanish speaker (and currently battling with Portuguese!) and has built strong connections and networks in the hispanic goalkeeping world.
With more than 3500 hours of accrued coaching and teaching experience in a multitude of community, school and performance contexts, he is certainly well-versed to understand the 'landscape' of formal education and coaching, using this to inform his investigative nature and continual drive to improve and innovate.
The year 2019 brings a new change and challenge, moving full-time into REFUEL Performance Management and launching the online learning business Goalkeeping Intelligence. It is one that Adam is excited to get off the ground and develop with a similar track-record to his previous projects.
